Next week is Spring break, which means no school, and me no babysitting. I am so excited to be able to attend a 3 day retreat, Monday thru Wednesday. Next week’s list includes what I plan to work on at the retreat.
As for last week, my list was:
- Cut fabrics for color of the month.–done
- Cut fabrics for the 2nd Little House Block and sew it together over the weekend.–done
- Get binding ready for the hand sewn quilt and start putting it on.–done

This is my red fabrics cut and ready to be made into the pinwheel blocks at the retreat. Red is the color of the month with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

Here is Block 2 for the Little House Sampler Quilt. The sew a long is being held by Melva Loves Scraps (see link near the end of this post). I plan to make block 3 at the retreat if it’s out by then.

I have a great start on putting the binding on the hand sewn quilt. I know this is backwards and the binding is supposed to be the last step, but it’s my quilt and I can do it any way that I like 🙂 This is going to the retreat where I honestly hope to finish it.

For this next week I plan to:
- Make the red pinwheel blocks
- Finish as much as I can on the hand sewn quilt.
- Hope to work on block 3 of the Little House sampler.

Your block 2 is pretty, Marsha! I like the layout of your colors in the star. I think with hand quilted quilts, it works just fine to sew the binding on even if you aren’t finished with the quilting, because you don’t have to worry about how you start and stop the quilting. (Hope that makes sense!) And then you can do the hand sewing of the binding at your retreat, too!
You can indeed do things however you want on your quilt! Makes sense to me to bind it since with hand quilting you’ll be handling those edges a lot. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
